Mermaid (Brig) logbook, 1836-1839.

The logbook of the brig Mermaid details a voyage from Salem, Mass. to New Zealand by way of Manilla and China and return to Salem. The ship was captained by John H. Eagleston, who also kept the logbook. Also the "Journal of a cruise among the Fegee Islands in schooner Jane, in the employ of the Mermaid by G. N. Cheever, first officer of the Brig". Includes envelope of miscellaneous papers found in logbook.
